Unpainted Furniture

You can choose a range of different styles of unpainted furniture. Mission style furnishings have seen resurgence in popularity recently. If you cannot afford a genuine Stickley, there are plenty of reproduction pieces available.

Unfinished Storage Beds

Why is mission furniture so popular? This style was developed by a group of Americans who were followers of the Art and Craft movement in the UK. Gustav Stickley is probably the most famous craftsman of this time. Original pieces of his work sell for thousands today although he went bankrupt while he was alive as his style went out of fashion.

Unfinished Storage Beds

Stickley and his contemporaries were fed up of both the elaborate furnishings favored by the Victorian era and the poor quality furniture being mass produced during the Industrial Revolution. They wanted a return to real craftsmanship where every piece produced was a testament of the skills of the craftsman.

They produced functional but beautiful furniture made with simple lines. They primarily used American oak but also some Cherry. The pieces were designed to last so that they could be transferred from one member of a family to the next generation. American Oak is white wood but when used by the Mission craftsmen, it was often died a darker color by fuming it with Ammonia.

Mission style reproduction pieces come in all types of furnishings from bedrooms to dining tables, the mission blanket storage box to chairs. You will learn to recognize the style from the flat legs and linear lines.

If the Mission style is too plain for you, you will find that most bare furniture stores will stock pieces in a variety of styles and woods. If you have a larger property, a beautiful scroll table with cabriolet legs will set off your dining room. You may also fancy a four poster bed for the main bedroom. When buying unpainted furniture you will find that your dollars will stretch that little bit further!

Unfinished Furniture Stores

If you are looking to change your interior decor, why not see if you can find some bargains in the unfinished furniture stores? A lot of people avoid these places as they think it will be too difficult to turn the unfinished product into a beautiful piece of furniture. But the truth is that it is really simple so you could potentially buy a houseful of fantastic items for a lot less dollars.

Unfinished Storage Beds

So what types of furniture can you buy in these shops? You can find an unpainted furniture store where as the name suggests the pieces will have been left for you to paint according to your tastes. You can find unfinished bedroom furnishings, office furniture or even kid's stuff. You will find anything you need for your home but at bargain prices.

Unfinished Storage Beds

There are various styles available too. Some will have modern pieces while other shops will specialize in reproduction antiques meaning that the pieces will resemble those produce at certain times in history. For example, you might love the American Colonial (1630 - 1700) era but be unable to afford the genuine article. Others love the classical Queen Anne (1702-1714) range also known as the golden era of cabinet making. Shaker style furniture has come back into fashion as the plain lines and lack of ornamental detail suit our modern homes and lifestyles.

French provincial style furniture has also become very popular. These pieces were originally made to replicate the more ornate furnishings of the Court of Louis XV but they also had to be practical and useful. A lot of unfinished furniture stores will have reproduction copies of this style ready for you to take home, stain and polish. Visitors to your home may then be fooled into thinking you have just bought some very expensive antiques!

This pure untreated wood is preferred by many consumers seeking a natural, hypo-allergenic alternative to todays chemical laden products. Twin Size Trundle Bed Frame - Unfinished Wood - 100% Clean Solid Wood No Toxins Made in America Simple and Strong!! Overview

Room Doctor's trundle bed frames are designed to fit underneath most platform bed frames. Having a trundle bed can be the PERFECT space-saving solution for when you have guests or your children have sleep-overs. If you have guests often, it certainly makes life easier. Our trundle bed frames have wheels that make rolling the frame out for use a breeze, and rolling it back for under bed storage is just as easy. Our trundle beds are very strong & durable, and represent a fantastic value in home furnishings. We use solid pine wood slats for the trundle deck, and they will provide you with ample strength and support while keeping you off the floor. The trundle bed frame comes ready-to-assemble, and assembly is so easy! There are no tools required; the allen wrench you need is included. If your bed frame meets the following requirements, it will work for you. You will need a bed frame that has at least 10.5 Inches in under-clearance from the floor to the bottom of the bed rail. Your bed frame must have an Inside Clearance (left to right) of 74.5 Inches in length for the trundle to fit. The inside slatted platform sits 3 off the ground, so we recommend using a basic futon mattress no thicker than 7-8 Inches to avoid conflict with the upper bed. In the event that you are purchasing this Trundle Bed with one of Room Doctors Pine Platform Beds, we do offer a lift kit for our matching platform beds that allows you to raise the upper bed to a specified desired height, giving you more freedom with the choice of mattress used in the trundle. This Trundle will hold a standard Twin Size Futon Mattress or a Conventional Bed Mattress that measures 38 x 74. You are buying only the Trundle Bed Frame; Mattresses and Covers shown are sold separately. Room Doctor Representatives (1-866-766-6362) can assist with mattress advice or custom options to help you ensure you get what you need.

A Tufted Headboard Makes Any Bed Fancier

If you're looking to assemble the perfect bedroom or only update one thing, you're in luck because there are hundreds of things you can do. Not only will finding the right furniture be fun, you will get a chance to be creative and explore yourself.

Unfinished Storage Beds

Who will primarily be using the room? If it's kids, you can go with a standard twin size of full bed, or if you have a couple children, consider a bunk bed. You can either buy them, or get plans to build your own. Canopy beds are usually popular with girls. Then, when they get older and go to college, they will love the idea of a lofted or captains style bed, especially for the extra storage it allows. A bookcase, desk, and futon can fit underneath.

Unfinished Storage Beds

For adults, the choices on beds are more varied. You can get queen, King, and California king sizes along with a slew of different frames made from different materials. You can get an oak sleigh frame with a leather padded headboard, for example, other options are cherry, pine, or maple wood with an upholstered tufted headboard. You could even go for a more classic look and get a black or white iron frame. These types are quite common on daybeds. Don't forget memory foam mattress to go along with this.

Beyond that, think about what you're want to do with the nightstand and dresser. If you want a very modern, contemporary look, you could try to find unfinished furniture. This is the kind that has knicks or bad paint spots in it. You can also mix and match different pieces for a very unique look. Obviously, you have the same kinds of materials to choose from as you did with the bed frame, and if you get a set you won't have to worry about matching. However, you could try to get all different pieces and match them separately as well.

Platform Beds - Finding the Perfect Platform Bed for Your Bedroom

Platform beds are perfect for those who want a simple and minimalist look for their bedroom. Platform beds' appeal lies in their low-profile sleeping surface, simple lines and sleek design. These are beds whose base consists of a raised, flat, hard, horizontal surface meant to support a mattress. Platform beds provide firm cushioning and with the support of slats, they eliminate the need for a box spring or mattress foundation. Add to it the fact that the space beneath the platforms can be used as storage, and it's little wonder then that their popularity has been on the rise recently.

Unfinished Storage Beds

Platform bed offerings include platform beds in wood, metal or leather. In wood, you can choose from some fantastic, exclusive, classic Italian designs from the leaders in Europe for high-end, sophisticated and contemporary furnishing. There is also an innovative range in transitional furniture with products manufactured to the highest standard using top quality, 100% kiln dried tropical hardwoods and veneers for beds to ensure strength and longevity. The wood finishes are applied by hand producing a rich finish. Another unique option in wood is the eco-friendly furniture from sustainable pine. This range, in unfinished wood, is highly functional and cost-effective.

Unfinished Storage Beds

A wood platform bed gives the bedroom a simple look and a feeling of being with nature. The low physical profile of a contemporary platform bed goes well with other low-set furniture such as low coffee tables, dressers and other bedroom furnishings. Besides being sturdy and strong, metal platform beds score over wood as they require far less maintenance; no more repainting or re-staining. Metal platform bed frames are made of tubular or sheet steel. Sometimes, for effect, platform bed frames can also have headboards and footboards, as well.

Modern platform beds in sleek shapes can compliment practically any decor, whether it's contemporary, traditional or transitional. Simplicity makes a strong statement with a sophisticated leather platform bed.

The ever-popular Queen platform beds or King platform beds offer a practical solution with a modern design. These beds save you money since no box spring is required and generally the slatted platform frames have a center support to prevent sagging. Often platform beds have under bed storage drawers for an enclosed cabinet effect, to store bed linen, pillows, and various other items at your convenience.

Platform beds come in various sizes, including Twin, Full, Queen, King, and Cal King. In the US, Twin is also known as Single (38" x 75"), Full as Double (53" x 75"), Queen as Queen-size (60" x 80"), King as Eastern King (76" x 80") and Cal King as California King (72" x 84"). Cal King size beds, generally for tall people, are typically 12" wider than a Queen-size bed and 4" longer.
